U.S. Embassy Announces Expedited Appointment System

KINGSTON - May 13, 2005

The U.S. Embassy today announced that beginning Tuesday, May 17th, all non-immigrant visa applicants who use the Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF) will be offered earlier appointment dates and will experience expedited processing times on the day of their interview.  There is no additional fee associated with participating in the new priority appointment system, which is being put into place to allow more time to review applicant cases and to provide faster returns for visa recipients.

To participate in the expedited appointment system applicants must first fill out the Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF), which is found at http://evisaforms.state.gov.  Once the form is completed, applicants must schedule their priority appointment through the Embassy’s online system, which is found at http://210.177.22.41/kingston.  During the online scheduling process, applicants will be prompted to provide the barcode number found under their name on “Page 3” of their EVAF

Applicants not using an EVAF will still be able to schedule appointments through the Embassy’s online appointment system; however, they will not have access to the priority appointment time slots and will experience longer wait-times before an appointment date becomes available.  Applicants not using an EVAF will also experience longer processing times at the Embassy on the day of their interview.

In order to obtain a priority appointment, each application must include the following:
1. Both the #1 and #2 copies of the application fee receipt, available at Paymaster.
2. A completed Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF) DS-156.  To obtain a priority appointment, an EVAF must be used.  The form is available at http://evisaforms.state.gov and when completed online, will print three pages, the last of which contains a barcode.  Please do not fold the page that contains the barcode or your application will be unable to be processed.  You must have all three pages of the electronic visa application form for your application to be accepted.
3. A completed supplemental form DS-157.  This form may be completed by hand or on a computer and is available at http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/forms/forms_1342.html.
4. One passport-sized photograph.
5. Valid original job letter for a crewmember.

For more information, contact the U.S. Embassy during normal business hours at 929-4850 to 9, or go online to http://usembassy.state.gov/kingston
