How to pay the nonimmigrant visa application fee

The nonimmigrant visa application fee must be paid at the National Commercial Bank.  Applicants must bring a “fee paid” receipt to the Embassy at the time of their appointment.  Please note that nonimmigrant visa application fees are not transferrable to another applicant.  Your “fee paid” receipt must be in your name.

Nonimmigrant visa application and border crossing card processing fees (per person):

  • Non-petition-based nonimmigrant visa (except E visa):  $160 USD
  • E category nonimmigrant visa: $270 USD
  • H, L, O, P, Q, or R category nonimmigrant visa: $190 USD
  • K category nonimmigrant visa: $240 USD
  • Border crossing card - 10 year (age 15 and over):  $160 USD
  • Border crossing card - (under age 15).  For Mexican citizen if parent or guardian has or is applying for a border crossing card:  $15 USD
  • Fraud prevention and detection fee for principal applicants applying for H1B and L-1 visas under blanket provisions abroad:  $500 USD

Exemptions from nonimmigrant visa application processing fee:

  • Applicants for A, G, C-3, NATO and diplomatic visas as defined in 22 CFR 41.26:  No Fee
  • Applicants for J visas participating in official U.S. Government sponsored educational and cultural exchanges:  No Fee
  • Replacement machine-readable visa when the original visa was not properly affixed or needs to be reissued through no fault of the applicant:  No Fee
  • Applicants exempted by international agreement as determined by the Department, including members and staff of an observer mission to United Nations Headquarters recognized by the UN General Assembly, and their immediate families:  No Fee
  • Applicants traveling to provide charitable services as determined by the Department:  No Fee
  • U.S. Government employees traveling on official business:  No Fee

Nonimmigrant visa issuance fee, including border-crossing cards (Reciprocity fees)

Nonimmigrant visa applicants who have Jamaican or Caymanian passports are not required to pay a separate issuance fee. Individuals of other nationalities should consult the Visa Reciprocity Tables to find out the visa issuance fee amount, if applicable.

Immigrant Visa Services

  • Immigrant visa application processing fee for immediate relative or family preference applications:  $230 USD per person
  • Immigrant visa application processing fee for Employment-based applications:  $405 USD per person
  • Other immigrant visa applications (Diversity Visa, Special Immigrant Visa, Self-petitioning, and all others):  $220 USD per person
  • Diversity Visa Lottery fee for immigrant visa application (per person applying as a result of the lottery program):  $330 USD

Special Visa Services

  • Determining Returning Resident Status:  $275 USD
  • Transportation letter for Legal Permanent Residents of U.S.:  $165 USD
  • Waiver of 2-year residence requirement:  $215 USD
  • Waiver of immigrant visa ineligibility (collected for INS, subject to change):  $585 USD
  • Permission to Reapply for Admission after removal or deportation: $585 USD
  • Refugee or significant public benefit parole case processing:  No Fee

Acceptable Forms of Payment for Supplemental Fees at Embassy

The Embassy cashier accepts the following forms of payment for supplemental fees:

  • All major credit card with a valid photo ID (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express)
  • $US Dollars
  • $J Dollars
  • International Postal Money Orders
  • Traveler’s Checks (Cheques)
