U.S Embassy announces the 2007/08 Fulbright scholarships
The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for the 2007/2008 Fulbright Graduate Student program.
Under this program, grants are awarded to qualified Jamaican graduates with first-class honors, upper second-class honors, or lower second-class honors Bachelor's degree in the humanities or social sciences. No one with pass degrees or an overall C average or below may apply. Applicants must also have graduated or will graduate between 1996 and 2006. This is a very competitive scholarship program, and consideration will only be given to Jamaican citizens who are graduates of reputable institutions worldwide.
The successful candidates may pursue either a Master’s degree or a Ph.D. degree in the humanities or social sciences at U.S. universities. Participants are required to return to Jamaica on completion of their studies, and must spend at least two years in Jamaica before they may initiate immigration to the U.S.
Persons with Alien Registration Cards (“green cards”), those already pursuing studies at a U.S. university, and those who are resident in the U.S. are ineligible to apply for a Fulbright grant.
