“Jamaica’s Political Development: The Way Forward” a Fulbright-Humphrey Alumni Association Seminar
The Jamaica Fulbright-Humphrey Alumni Association (JFHAA), with the support of the U.S. Embassy’s Office of Public Affairs, will host Senator Professor Trevor Monroe as the guest speaker at a seminar, “Jamaica’s Political Development: The Way Forward” at the Sts. Peter and Paul Church Hall, 120 Old Hope Road, Kingston 6 on Thursday, March 8, at 5:30 p.m. The event, which is free to the public, is the second seminar in the Fulbright-Humphrey Alumni Speaker Series.
Senator Professor Munroe, a Rhodes Scholar and Fulbright alumna, holds a chair as Professor of Government and Politics at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus, where he has lectured for many years. He is also well-known in the media, particularly through the “Breakfast Club” where he serves as one of the co-hosts of the program. A former trade unionist, Professor Munroe is currently a People’s National Party Senator, focusing on day-to-day policy issues such as democracy, regional and hemispheric security, drugs, and corruption.
The JFHAA is an association of professionals who have been beneficiaries of U.S. Department of State’s Fulbright scholarships and Humphrey fellowships administered by the U.S. Embassy in Kingston. The mission of the JFHAA is to contribute to national development by initiating and participating in activities that foster advancement in education and the development of a civil society, while promoting mutual understanding through liaison with organizations of a similar nature.
