Immigrant Visas
General Overview
An Immigrant Visa (IV) is required of anyone who wishes to enter the United States to reside there permanently, whether or not that person plans to seek employment in the U.S. In most cases, IV petitions must be filed in the United States. For information regarding applying for a family-based or employment-based immigrant visa, please visit the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website or the U.S. State Department's website.

Information and Inquiries
The preferred method of communicating with the Immigrant Visa Unit is by e-mail. Please send e-mail inquiries to KingstonIV@state.gov. To schedule a follow-up appointment, please follow the instructions on the letter that you were given at the time of your appointment at the Embassy.
In most instances, you will receive a response to an email inquiry within five business days. Please wait at least five business days before sending another e-mail. The U.S. Embassy does not respond to visa inquiries by phone.
