Immigrant Visas

General Information

An Immigrant Visa (IV) is required of anyone who wishes to enter the United States to reside there permanently, whether or not that person plans to seek employment in the U.S.  In most cases, IV petitions must be filed in the United States.

For information regarding applying for a family-based or employment-based immigrant visa, please visit the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website or the U.S. Department of State 's website. If you need information on adopting a Jamaican child, please review the U.S. Department of State’s country information on adoptions.
