U.S. Embassy Selects Mr. Garnet Lewis To Attend
U.S. Multicultural Program
Kingston, June 2, 2005
The United States Embassy in Kingston is pleased to announce that Mr. Garnet Lewis has been selected to participate in the U.S. International Visitor Program on “Multiculturalism in a Democratic Society” June 2-23, 2005. The U.S. State Department, through the International Visitor Program, enables up-and-coming leaders from all over the world to travel to the U.S. each year to meet and confer with their professional counterparts and to experience the U.S. and its institutions first-hand.
Mr. Lewis is senior editor at the Creative Production and Training Center Limited (CPTC) in Kingston, Jamaica. In his role, he supervises a team of technical specialists and contributes to the planning and execution of major CPTC productions.
According to Mr. Lewis, “Exposure to professionals and emerging technologies in the U.S. will not only strengthen my professional skills, but it will allow me to bring a broader perspective to my work at the CPTC, an institution that contributes greatly to cultural production and preservation and Jamaica.”
The Multiculturalism in a Democratic Society program begins in Washington, D.C. and will end in Los Angeles, California. The program includes 22 participants from around the world from media groups, academic institutions, and non-governmental organizations. It will explain democratic process in the U.S., explore contributions of multiculturalism to democratic society, and examine the impact of immigration and diverse populations in the U.S.
