Application Fee
We strongly encourage all applicants to complete the passport application on-line. The on-line application form assures efficient and accurate processing of your application.
Passport applications are accepted in the U.S. Embassy - Kingston Consular section Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.. Passport applications are also accepted at our Consular Agency in Montego Bay (Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.) and at our Consular Agency in Grand Cayman (Monday, Wednesday, Friday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.) Please note that passport applications take a minimum of one to two weeks to process.
If you are coming to the Kingston Consular section for American Citizen Services, please walk to the entrance and inform the security guards; you should not wait in line with the visa applicants but in the shorter line for American Citizen Services. Additionally, all visitors to the Embassy are subject to a security check. The Embassy reserves the right to limit the entry of your possessions, including umbrellas, cell phones and other electronic items. Security does not have the means to store these items for you.
Lost, Stolen and Emergency Passports
American visitors to Jamaica and the Cayman Islands may apply for an emergency, limited-validity passport in certain emergency situations only, for instance, to replace a passport lost or stolen during their stay. Persons who have never been issued a passport previously and those whose passports have expired will not qualify for emergency passport issuance, in the absence of life or death circumstances. If you believe your passport has been stolen, first report the theft to local police authorities and get a police declaration.
