US Embassy Hosts Pre-Departure Seminar for Students

The Embassy of the United States of America, Office of Public Affairs will host a pre-departure seminar for Jamaican students who have been admitted to a college or university in the United States for the 2007/2008 academic year.  The event will be held on Friday, July 6, 2007 at the Hilton Kingston Hotel, Knutsford Boulevard, Kingston 5 starting at 11:30 a.m.

The seminar dubbed, “The More You Know Before You Go” is designed to assist students in the transition to the United States and the U.S. system of education.

It will provide academic and cultural information for Jamaican students in order to better prepare them for study in the United States.  Information on issues surrounding student visas will also be available.

A panel of Jamaican students currently enrolled in U.S. colleges as well as recent graduates will be on hand to share their social, cultural and academic experiences and answer questions.

Students and parents interested in attending the event should contact the Office of Public Affairs Information Resource Center at 702-6172 or 702-6163 to confirm their attendance.
