Questions and Answers

What is the deadline for application to a university?

It differs from university to university.  Look in the Foreign Student Supplement or one of the college directories under "Application Deadline" to find each university's deadline.  Some universities have "rolling admissions," which means there is not a particular deadline set for admission and applications can be sent in at any time.  Look in the Foreign Student Supplement for more details about which colleges and universities accept students on a rolling admissions basis.

How can I find out what courses are offered at various universities?

When writing to colleges, ask them to send you their course catalogues, which will provide a breakdown of courses offered under each major area of study.  Additionally, much of this information can now be found on-line at each particular college's website.

When should I apply for financial aid?

If you wish to apply for financial aid, do so at the same time you apply for admission. Most university application forms will have a section you can fill out asking whether you want to apply for financial aid.  However, you should work with your current school's educational advisor to research other scholarship opportunities, such as grants provided to foreign students through private U.S. organizations, well in advance of submitting applications to schools to have an idea of how you could pay for your education if financial aid is not granted, or how you can supplement any financial aid you receive.
