United States Conducts Crime Scene Course with the JCF

June 28, 2005

In a special ceremony Monday morning at Twickenham Park, Mr. Morris Davis of the U.S. Embassy and Assistant Commissioner of Police George Williams of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) officially launched a U.S. Government INL/NAS sponsored training course for JCF personnel on crime scene management.  The course is part of the U.S. Government's continuing work with the Government of Jamaica to strengthen law enforcement.

30 JCF homicide investigators and laboratory technicians will participate in a one-week workshop with Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) trainers at the Caribbean Regional Drug Law Enforcement Training Center (REDTRAC) at Twickenham Park.  Benefits include the broadening of crime scene evidence collection and preservation skills.  Courses range from “Crime Scene Documentation” and “Preservation of Firearms Evidence” to “Human Remains Detection and Recovery.”

Addressing the group, Mr. Davis said the U.S. Embassy was pleased to continue a long history of working with Jamaican law enforcement authorities.

Assistant Commissioner Williams thanked the U.S. Embassy for its extensive work with the JCF and said he was proud to call the FBI agents ‘colleagues’, as it was necessary for law enforcement agencies the world over to work as partners to fight crime and violence.
