- I currently have a visitor visa and I am thinking about asking my mother to start the immigrant visa petitioning process for me to move to the United States. I am worried because I have heard that my visitor visa will be cancelled if someone is filing for me. Is this true? (PDF 38KB)
- I recently visited the Embassy for an immigrant visa appointment, and the officer told me that I should remember to pay a new immigration fee before I travel to the United States. Is this different than the fee I paid when I began the application process? (PDF 8KB)

- I understand that the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) field office will be closing on March 1st, 2013 and USCIS services will now be based out of Santo Domingo. I’m a U.S. citizen residing in the United States and I recently filed for my mother to immigrate to the U.S. Will my mother’s immigrant visa interview still take place in Jamaica or does she now have to travel to Santo Domingo? (PDF 62KB)

- I need to renew my U.S. visitor visa. Do I have to wait in line for an interview, or can I just drop off my paperwork? (PDF 44KB)

- My sister applied for a visa before Christmas and barely got an appointment at the Embassy in time to travel for the holidays. How early do I need to schedule a visa appointment if I want to travel this spring? (PDF 12KB)
- When I applied for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad to document my Jamaican-born son as a U.S. citizen, my application was denied because the Consular officer stated that I was not physically present in the U.S. for five years. However, I obtained my U.S. citizenship through naturalization, which required me to spend five years in the U.S., so why am I now unable transmit citizenship to my son? (PDF 80KB)
